Art With Anna

Artisan children's educator Anna Meyrick continues with her series of dynamic art classes for young artists. Each week she presents different projects, encouraging and supporting students as they learn, experiment, and create! Students must preregister. $20 with $5 materials fee for ceramics classes. Scholarships are available by request.

March 30: Ceramics 
Join Anna for her monthly ceramics class. In March, students create heart shaped dishes with words and glaze pieces done in previous classes. New students are welcome and may join at any time.

April 6: Zebra
Using watercolor and black ink students create stacking zebras

April 13: Hungry Bird
Create a baby bird with a hungry surprise for mama bird! Students learn paper folding techniques and explore with paint.

April 20: Cool Cat
This cool cat at the beach gives students an opportunity to work with horizon lines both at the beach and as a reflection in the cat’s glass. Students use watercolor to create this painting.

April 27: Ceramics
Join Anna for her monthly ceramics class. Students have the opportunity to create with clay and glaze work from the previous class. New students are welcome and may join any month. $25

  

Drawing Lab for Kids

Ages 4–6: 9 am – 10 am $80 per session includes all materials
The class provides an introduction into representational drawing and recognition of 5 basic elements of shape. Combining the elements, students will create drawings of animal babies, insects and dinosaurs.

Ages 7–8: 10 am – 11:30 am $80 per session includes all materials
A representational drawing class that starts with basics and progresses to jungle animals and peoples of the world.

Ages 9 & Up: 12 pm – 2 pm $100 per session includes all materials
After learning the basics, students will use different mediums, such as graphite, pastels, colored pencils and watercolor to draw people, places, and perspective with emphasis on techniques and creative approach.

Single class drop-in-rate: $25 includes all materials. Scholarships are available by request.

 

Egg Decorating Workshops

Come and create beautiful Ukrainian Pysanky with Beth Ostapiuk. Learn the traditional "batik type" process as you apply thin wax lines to a real egg and then dip in a series of rich dyes. Wax is removed and egg is varnished for shine and durability. $30 per class plus $10 materials kit. Suitable for ages 8 and up.

 

"Clap Your Hands Book" Bookmaking Class

Join Beryl Reichenberg for her monthly bookmaking class for kids. Her “Clap Your Hands Book” is all about happiness and what makes us happy. She brings colorful papers, punch outs, pens and other materials to make the book as well as some stamps and stamp pads for decorating. This is a wide-open theme so children are encouraged to use their imagination and creativity. RSVP required. $5 materials fee but adults accompanied by a child may create a project for free. Note: because cutting, pasting and stamping is involved, students under the age of 6 may need the assistance of an adult.

This camp includes small-group instruction (12 campers or less) with professional artists/instructors Eve Chartrand and Anna Meyrick, high quality art materials and mini art show on Friday. Ages 7+. $190 for 5 days. Scholarships are available by request.

Art With Anna for Homeschoolers

Mixed Media Exploration takes place on Mondays. Try new art forms including silk painting and fiber arts. Cost is $150 for the month.

Hand Building Ceramics takes place on Wednesdays. Create with clay for three weeks and glaze work the final week. Cost is $150 for the month. 

 
 

Kids Cookie Decorating

Local resident and internationally-renowned cookie artist, Arty McGoo teaches kids to decorate summer-themed cookies that are darling AND delicious. So go get some shopping done or visit the gym while the kids do something fun and productive. They will leave with new skills, new friends, and adorable cookies! Suitable for ages 8 & up. Limited to 20 students. All supplies provided for use during the class are included in the $30 price.

Schedule a private lesson with Anna Meyrick in her studio. Get one-on-one attention in the medium of your choice. Some students work better one on one. Anna has 30 years experience working with children and knows how to engage students that are shy, have anxiety issues, learning disabilities or just prefer a one-on-one setting. Anna specializes in creating custom lessons in drawing, painting, printmaking, fiber arts, ceramics, collage, mosaics, digital art, pinhole cameras, desktop publishing, sculpture and seasonal projects. All art lessons can be tied to state educational benchmarks for homeschooling purposes. Price varies.
