SUMMER Offerings for YoutH 

T-Shirt Screen Printing

Kids ages 8-12, join resident artist Betty Wick for a fun introduction to silkscreen printing! She covers how to design and screen-print on fabric. Students need to bring a t-shirt (light color) to print their one-color design in black ink. All other supplies included in the $15 class fee.


Kids Cookie Decorating

Local resident and internationally-renowned cookie artist, Arty McGoo teaches kids to decorate summer-themed cookies that are darling AND delicious. So go get some shopping done or visit the gym while the kids do something fun and productive. They will leave with new skills, new friends, and adorable cookies! Suitable for ages 8 & up. Limited to 20 students. All supplies provided for use during the class are included in the $30 price.


Bug Book Class for Kids

Summer is full of bugs in your garden. Join Beryl Reichenberg, local children’s book author and artist, in her papercraft class and make a bug book. The cover is a three-dimensional ladybug and then make an accordion book with your own drawings of crazy made-up bugs or cut out and color bugs from a supplied sheet. All colorful papers and pens supplied. RSVP required. Materials fee $5. Kids under 6 may need adult help but adults accompanied by a child may do the project for free.


Save Our Science Lab Coat Workshop

Art and Action come together to celebrate and promote science at all levels. The Save Our Science Project aims to utilize the creative arts as a means of recognizing scientific exploration and to continue the dialogue on the importance of defending and funding science for its enhancement of civilization. By utilizing lab coats as our canvas, the SOS Project, as a traveling movement, shares the message of the importance of science by incorporating education, arts and public displays.

This workshop is for adults and children ages 10 and up. Youth pay $10 and adults pay $20. Lab coats and materials are included but participants are encouraged to bring: acrylic and watercolor paints, brushes, fabric markers, Sharpies, fabric scraps, yarn, scissors, and white glue or ModPodge. 


Art With Anna

Artisan children's educator Anna Meyrick continues with her series of dynamic art classes for young artists. Each week she presents different projects, encouraging and supporting students as they learn, experiment, and create! Students must preregister. $20-25. Scholarships are available by request.

August 3: Memory Wire Beaded Bracelets
Students have the opportunity to create a one of a kind beaded bracelet with a wide assortment of beads and shiny objects. $25.

August 10: Silk Painting
Students learn how to use gutta resist to apply a design on a silk hoop. With silk dye they mix their own palette to create a silk painting with vibrant colors. $25.

August 17: Rock Monsters
Students let your imagination run wild as you create one-of-a-kind rock monsters and other creatures with google eyes, acrylic paints and Sharpies. $20.

August 24: Ceramics
Join Anna for her monthly ceramics class with a focus on hand-building. Students have the opportunity to create with clay and glaze work from the previous class. New students are welcome and may join any month! $25.

August 31: One-Point Perspective Landscape
Students create a landscape in one-point perspective and use pastels to complete their work. $20.

Schedule a private lesson with Anna Meyrick in her studio. Get one-on-one attention in the medium of your choice. Some students work better one on one. Anna has 30 years experience working with children and knows how to engage students that are shy, have anxiety issues, learning disabilities or just prefer a one-on-one setting. Anna specializes in creating custom lessons in drawing, painting, printmaking, fiber arts, ceramics, collage, mosaics, digital art, pinhole cameras, desktop publishing, sculpture and seasonal projects. All art lessons can be tied to state educational benchmarks for homeschooling purposes. Price varies.


Kids Art Smart
