About Erin Inglish
Erin Inglish is a thoughtful wanderer steeped in the thick of California’s music scene. Inglish’s performances proffer passionate lyricism, toe-tapping grooves, and striking reflections about the state of the modern world. Her voice is both lush and raw, and her picking style on the five-string banjo is uniquely her own…expressive, sassy, dynamic. Her current project is a class-act JAZZ trio - focused on both popular and obscure jazz standards - with killer Billie-Holiday-style vocals accompanied by banjo, guitar, and fretless bass. The Erin Inglish Band, which represents more of her original music, has performed for many audiences, from intimate settings to festivals, including the Live Oak Music Festival main stage, and recently, the 2018 Women's March Rally in the Mission Plaza. Her original music could be described as "groove-laden, jazz-inspired, trance blues-grass" and will get your toes tapping and heart smiling! Inglish has spent several years living abroad (in India, Madagascar, Bulgaria and Serbia), and her songwriting reflects her elation for life, her creative and exploratory nature, and her passion for creating positive change through community and art. She has produced and released one album of traditional bluegrass songs and two of original music - Hoi Polloi (2009), A Melody So Sweet (2013), and Muse (2015). To celebrate Earth Month, Inglish has pedaled two, 1000-mile bicycle tours performing at various schools with her John Hartford Deering Banjo (which she uniquely tunes in the key of E), and her dog Olga on board. Former mechanical engineer and sustainability consultant, now banjoneer, Inglish recently went back to school to begin the study of a deep musical passion of hers - jazz. For the sixth year, Inglish has the great honor of curating the internationally acclaimed Banjo Babes Compilation Album & Calendar. The much-anticipated 2019 edition of this project is themed "Solidarity, Sister" and celebrates the joys and struggles of women through their music.
